“Step into Kamilla’s Floral Boutique in Millerton, New York, ‘one of the coolest towns in America’ (Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel, September 2007), and you realize you have left the ordinary far behind. The exuberant floral designs in a setting of verdant walls and salvaged teakwood with fanciful shapes set it apart.” (by James Roper, HUDSON) In-store collections feature innovative floral designs, displays of live orchids, potted plants, unique containers, Russian Baltic amber, handmade wreaths by Amy, Russian candy, and many more garden and floral related gifts. All items are very carefully hand selected, chosen with the customer in mind.
Owner and your personal floral designer, Kamilla Najdek, was born in Ekaterinburg, located in the center of Russia in the heart of the Ural Mountains. At the age of nine, she moved to Kaliningrad, Russia, situated in the western part of the country on the beautiful Baltic Sea. Kaliningrad's close proximity to Europe enables its people to incorporate the influences of European art, theater, music, and floral design into their lives. Kamilla attended The Russian State University of "Immanuel Kant", with studies in European Floral Design.
To broaden her knowledge of the world and her language skills, Kamilla traveled to the USA on an international work and travel program. During her summers in Millerton, she worked at the Interlaken Inn and Resort in Lakeville, CT. While in Millerton she also met her future husband, Donald Najdek. After multiple visas, frequent flier miles, and their meetings throughout Europe, Kamilla and Donald were married in 2002.
Through her studies in European Floral Design, Kamilla embraces the Holland, Japanese, and German styles in her designs. She has participated in numerous floral competitions in Russia receiving several awards. Kamilla participates locally in the annual Dutchess County Fair Floral Contests, and her entries have received a First Place and two Best of Shows. Kamilla also regularly participates in floral contests through several floral magazines.
Most recently, Kamilla was chosen to be one of seven finalist from around the country to participate in the European Flower Cup 2008 held at the Javitts Center in New York City where she received Third Place for her designs.
